ACK-Boston, Too Chintzy Mahjongg computer games have been around for at least twenty years, since the days when they were downloaded from floppy drives. This is old technology so the coding should be pretty much cut and paste. I therefore expected that this game would be a pretty complete mahjongg game that could at least keep up with the games in production before today’s programmers were even born. I think that’s a reasonable expectation. Unfortunately this is just a quick teaser of mahjongg.
I downloaded this app before a long flight back from Hawaii, thinking that it could keep me entertained for a couple hours. There are only six boards to this app, they are mostly quite easy, and once you’ve completed them you are prompted after every board to buy more games. There is no timer and no scoring, so it’s just rote matching. You will complete the entire game and enter the world of irritating sales ads within twenty minutes of opening it. It’s fun for my daugher, who just turned seven, but any adult will quickly be finished with this app.
Given that the technology is readily available for infinite board set ups, scoring, timers, competition mode, etc., I was expecting so much more. What a disappointment. What a disappointment. Doozle., Mah Jong Free is a good value! If you've ever wanted to learn how to play this game this is an excellent game to start with. With so many to chose from in iTunes its very easy to find yourself lost & alone when trying to make a choice from so many. Fortunately for you Grasshopper the choice here is not only easy its cheap as well. The directions are easy to follow and soon you'll be knocking out tiles with the best of them.
Also there's a forgivness 'shuffle' in case you can't figyre out where to go or what to do next (very nice). There are certainly worse games out there that not only waste your time but also your pocketbook, this game will do neither to you. So go ahead & download it now, you'll be glad you did later! Ionakohoe, And now I’m addicted.
Found MahJong languishing in my apps while waiting for something to download. Have played other versions, but this one was so great, because it challenged the eye and therefore the brain to work, matching unexpected and unfamiliar symbols, rather than a board in which all symbols are visible from the start or a bear and another bear, all recognizable symbols to the Western mind. I plan to use it with my grandson to help him develop a keen sense of differentiation. I just wish I knew what the word-symbols meant, so that I could teach him a new language at the same time (he’s two, and this is the best time). Think this will keep my old brain cells working a bit longer, too.
